Biography

Alexandra Tarabour is the founder of Friendly Fraud Fighter, an initiative dedicated to helping individuals and organizations stay ahead of fraud and cybercrime. With a unique background spanning traditional investigations, digital forensics, compliance, and cybersecurity strategy, she bridges the gap between how fraudsters operate and how organizations can defend against them.

She has held leadership roles across the fraud and cybersecurity ecosystem, including serving as Chief Operating Officer of a deep tech company specializing in real-time digital evidence verification, and Director of Revenue Operations at a cybersecurity IT consulting firm. Earlier in her career, Alexandra led investigations into potentially fraudulent insurance claims at two of the nation’s largest investigation firms, where she sharpened her expertise in fraud detection and insider threat prevention.

In addition to her professional work, Alexandra serves as Vice President of InfraGard’s National Members Alliance New Jersey Chapter, a partnership between the FBI and the private sector focused on protecting critical infrastructure, is a board member of ACAMS NJ, and is a membership chair of Cloud Security Alliance - NYC Chapter. She is also a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), a frequent speaker on cybersecurity culture and human error, and a mentor to students through her alma mater’s Alumni Association.

Alexandra holds a Bachelor of Arts and an MBA and is training to become a cryptocurrency investigator. Her work is guided by a mission to empower others with practical, psychology-informed strategies to recognize fraud, prevent deception, and strengthen resilience against evolving threats.

Exploring the Psychology Behind Fraudulent Behavior
The course provided a comprehensive overview of the psychology of fraud. The examples in the Biases section were a blend of audit team biases and fraudster biases. It may be beneficial to group the biases by these categories and position them as one or the other to make it easier to appreciate both angles.
